MASONRY VENEER MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION NAMES MIKE FISCHER DIRECTOR OF CODES AND STANDARDS
[Washington, DC] -- The Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association (MVMA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Fischer as Director of Codes and Standards.
As the Director of Codes and Standards, Mr. Fischer will carry out code advocacy activities for MVMA and will be the key technical professional, focusing on assisting the MVMA Codes and Standards Committee, task forces, technical research programs and codes related issues. In this position he will also track national codes and standards organizations.
Key areas of monitoring and advocacy for the masonry veneer product manufacturers will be the ICC-ES, American Society for Testing of Materials (ASTM), International Code Council (ICC), and the State of Florida Building Code. Other state and local jurisdictions may also be part of the monitoring efforts.
Mr. Fischer will serve the industry as the “voice” and technical representative for the masonry veneer manufacturers at the codes and standards hearings.
Mr. Fischer has worked for both major manufacturing corporations and associations within the building industry for over twenty years. Most recently, he served as Director of Code and Regulatory Compliance for the Window and Door Manufacturers Association, where he worked closely with state and federal government agencies to develop key code and regulatory positions. Mr. Fischer has also held sales and marketing positions at Owens Corning Fiberglas, Overhead Door Corporation and Clopay Building Products.
Mr. Fischer currently serves as a member of the Board of the Glazing Industry Code Committee, and is a member of several other code advisory committees and associations including the International Code Council Industry Advisory Committee, and the National Fire Protection Association. He is active in his hometown community of Chittenango, NY as well as in numerous charitable and civic organizations.
MVMA is the North American trade association that represents the masonry veneer (brick and stone) industry’s manufacturing companies and their material suppliers. MVMA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and is the only incorporated trade association organized specifically for the manufacturing sector of the masonry veneer products industry.
