NEW ASTM C15 SUBCOMMITTEE FORMED
C15.11 Subcommittee on Adhered Manufactured Stone Masonry Veneer
[Washington, DC] -- The American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) C15 Executive Committee has approved a new subcommittee, C15.11 on Adhered Manufactured Stone Masonry Veneer. As such, the Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association (MVMA) will be active and participatory on this new subcommittee through representation by MVMA member companies. The following MVMA member companies will participate, including Boulder Creek Stone; Coronado Products; Cultured Stone® - A subsidiary of Owens Corning; Dutch Quality Stone; and Eldorado Stone LLC.
ASTM C15 has jurisdiction regarding masonry veneer manufactured products. The new subcommittee will be responsible for developing and maintaining the product specifications and installation guidelines for adhered manufactured stone masonry veneer.
The subcommittee will consider and finalize the definition for adhered manufactured stone masonry veneer proposed as “is a light weight architectural non-load bearing product. It is a wet cast blend of cementitious materials, light weight and other aggregates, iron oxide pigments and admixtures.”
Brenda Harris, Eldorado Stone, San Marcos, CA,will be the chair of the new subcommittee.
The Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association (MVMA) was recently formed and officially began operation April 1, 2006. MVMA was organized to represent manufacturers and suppliers of manufactured stone and brick veneer products. The mission of the organization is “to advance the growth of the manufactured masonry veneer products industry through proactive technical, advocacy, and awareness efforts.”
One of the MVMA’s priorities, and that of the MVMA Codes and Standards Committee, is to work in support of development of ASTM product and installation standards specific to the manufactured stone and brick veneer industry. The activities of the new ASTM C15.11 subcommittee will be an agenda consideration at the MVMA meetings October 10-12, 2006, in Las Vegas, NV.
MVMA is the North American trade association that represents the manufactured stone and brick veneer manufacturing companies and their suppliers. MVMA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The charter member companies of MVMA include: Boulder Creek Stone; Coronado Products; Cultured Stone® - A subsidiary of Owens Corning; Dutch Quality Stone; and Eldorado Stone LLC. Current member companies presently number five manufacturers, and two suppliers.
